The Valiant 300 SPJ model is a great all around shallow water jigging reel, especially <300 feet. The line retrieve is plenty for slow pitch jigging but once you are down 1/3 of the spool it does drop quickly, for deeper water and all around the 500N is a better size. At only 12.5oz with the larger SPJ handle it's one of the lightest reel in its class which is even better when paired with a good slow pitch rod at 3-5oz giving you a combo you can fish all day long without much fatigue. These reels don't come with a clicker and don't need one to get in the way, but they do come with a huge main gear which rivals that of much larger reels giving you a lot of cranking power making it perfect for straight pulling bigger species in.
These reels hold around 300-350 yards of 30lb US spec braid and up to 600 meters of PE 2.0 which is typically around 30-35lb Japanese braid albeit rated differently. The handle arms can be changed out to something longer but the stock is usually best since it protects the gears from unnecessary wear.
